William J. Groshner

William J. Groshner, age 84 of Meadville passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at his residence.

He was born in Meadville on November 17, 1940, a son of Francis and Addie (McMillen) Groshner. Bill married the former Elizabeth (Betsy) Law on January 20, 1962.

Bill was a 1958 graduate of Randolph-East Mead High School and a 1962 graduate of Edinboro State Teachers College with a degree in education. Bill was a lineman for Penelec for 37 years. He enjoyed golfing and hunting and was a fierce card player with his family. Bill was a proud member of the Erie Shriners, Masonic Lodge #408, Elks Lodge #219, American Legion #205 and was the past Monarch of Kismet Grotto. He was also a member of the E. Free Church of Guys Mills.

Bill was a handyman and mechanic who enjoyed fixing about anything. A terrific grandpa and great grandpa who loved spending time and spoiling his grandkids. He loved to share his knowledge and volunteer his time and talents to help his kids, church, and friends.

He is survived by his wife Betsy of 62 years, three children, Gary Groshner and wife Barbara of Nokomis, FL, David Groshner and his wife Mary of Meadville, and Susan Hering and her husband Doug of Cochranton. Two sisters, Patricia Alexander and Darlene Marr. Seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert Groshner.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday 12-30-2024 at11 AM in E. Free Church of Guys Mills with Rev. Bill Cox, officiating. Family and friends will be received on Sunday 12-29-2024 from 1:00-4:00 PM in ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. 581 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE and again on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. 

Burial will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
