William H. Robinson, 80, Alliance, OH died Friday, November 3, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, OH.
He was born March 15, 1926 in Akron, OH a son of Orville C. and Zella Milenz Robinson. His family moved to Linesville when he was very young. It was in Linesville that he grew up and subsequently graduated from Linesville High School.
Following high school he enlisted in the US Navy and was a veteran of World War II serving as a Motorman/Machinist Mate aboard the USS Lowdnes (a Troop Transport) in the South Pacific. Following the war he married Virginia N. Brock on December 6, 1947 and then, she preceded him in death March 17, 1997.
He and his family moved to Kent, OH in the 1950’s were he worked as a driver for Roadway Express for 32 years, retiring in 1986.
He thoroughly enjoyed the water and was an avid boater, teaching many friends and family how to water ski. He was always ready to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbors working on a project. Also, he was a member of the Church of New Hope in Stow, OH.
Survivors, include: two sons, Charles Robinson and his wife Diane of Randolph, NJ and Cliff Robinson of Massillon, OH; one daughter, Carolyn Salaski and her husband Ron of Alliance, OH; one sister, June Merry of Linesville; one brother, Clarence Robinson of Littleton, CO and six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Monday at 12 p.m. in Greendale Cemetery, with burial to follow with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post 2006.
The family suggests memorials be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or the American Cancer Society, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA.
