William (Bill) Howard Hamill, 94, resident of Cribbs at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. He was born September 5, 1923 to Maude (Elder) and Howard Edison Hamill in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1941 and attended college at California State Teachers College in California, Pennsylvania before leaving to join the Army Air Force where he enlisted into officers training school and graduated as a lieutenant and pilot. In the military he flew B-24 and B-29 heavy bombers training fellow soldiers to fly for WWII. In 1946, he joined Capitol Airlines as a district sales manager in Youngstown, Ohio and Louisiana before joining Beckett Aviation Corporation in 1957 until his retirement from CSX Beckett Aviation as Senior Vice President, Flight Management. He married Mildred (Millie) Louise Boyes on January 2, 1976. After retirement they resided in Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania and Naples, Florida. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He was a deacon and president of the Westminster Mens Club at the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, Ohio. He was president of the Jaycees and lifelong member of the Old Erie Lodge #3 Masonic Order also in Warren, Ohio. He was vice president of the Kiwanis Club in Youngstown, Ohio and he was a member of the Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland, Ohio. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in Immokalee, Florida for over ten years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie, and son, Douglas Jonathan Julian. Bill leaves his daughters, Corby Golias (Steve) of Aiken, SC, and Vicki White (David, Sr.) of Conneaut Lake; and his daughter-in-law, Barbara Lewis Julian of Doylestown, PA. He was most proud of his only grandson, Justin Grant Williams (Jessica) and his great grandson, Grayson, of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He is survived by his sisters Barbara Anderson (nieces Debbie Guy, Sue Schnarrs, and nephew Michael Bradley) and Eleanor Miller (niece Lisa Ferris and nephew Brett Miller), both of Frederick, Maryland and brother, Robert Hamill (nephew Bob Hamill-deceased) of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. A special thank you to his Wesbury family. Private services will be held in August. His cremains will be laid to rest next to Millie in the columbarium at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery in Conneaut Lake. Memorial donations may be made to The Wesbury Foundation, 31 N.
