William J. Shelatz

February 17, 1951 — September 9, 2007

William J. Shelatz, 56, of Conneaut Lake died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Meadville Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born February 17, 1951 in Meadville the son of Steve J. and Marjorie A. Campbell Shelatz.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving with the US Air Force.  He was of the Protestant Faith.

After serving with the Air Force, he worked for American Viscose Co. in Meadville then the Bessemer Railroad for 12 years.  Bill then attended the Crawford County Vocational Technical School and received his degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  He was working for Andover Village Retirement Community, Andover, OH for the past 19 years and most recently as Director of Admissions.

He was a member of the Conneaut Lake Park Fire Hall, had helped with Conneaut Lake Youth Soccer, and enjoyed NASCAR, baseball, football and most of all his family.

Survivors, include: two daughters, Jamie Lee Shelatz and Lindsey Nicole Shelatz of Conneaut Lake; his mother, Marjorie A. Shelatz of Hartstown; three step-daughters, Kristy Williams and her husband Richard of Conneaut Lake, Kim Newlin and Patti Werner; a sister, Mary Ann Shelatz of Linesville; three brothers, James Shelatz and his wife Elizabeth of Sacramento, CA, Edward P. Shelatz and his wife Fran of Prospect, PA and Charles T. Shelatz and his wife Jodi of Hartstown; two step-grandchildren, Brooke and Richard and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

His father Steve J. Shelatz preceded him in death July 19, 2007.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake, PA.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Mark A. Nowak, Pastor of St. Philip Church, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Philip Cemetery, Linesville.

The family suggests memorials be made to his two daughters at home, in care of PNC Bank, 10998 State Hwy 18, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.
