William K. (Bill) Prather, 67, of Cochranton, died Tuesday, August 25, 1987, at Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born in Meadville on January 17, 1920, a son of Thomas J. and Margaret Ann Kramer Prather. He retired in 1981 as a conductor for Conrail after 35 years of service. A Meadville High School graduate, Mr. Prather was an Army paratropper during World War II, first in Tripoli and Africa and then in the invasion to southern France. He was affiliated with Stone United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Katrina and Rebecca, both at home; three sons, Daniel K. Prather of Milledgeville, Timothy A. Prather at home and Jonathan B. Prather with the US Navy in Bremmerton, WA; a sister, Mrs. James (Marion) Charlton of Meadville; and a brother, Thomas J. Prather of Basking Ridge, NJ. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Gould and four brothers, Jack, Don, Gerald and Frank Prather. Services were held at Waid Funeral Home. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
