William (Bill) L. Weir, 63, of Meadville, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born June 29, 1951 in Meadville, a son of William F. and Wilda Shumaker Weir. He married Janet Thompson August 27, 1977 and she survives.
Bill was a 1969 graduate of Meadville High School. He worked for the Hydro Group and subsequently at the Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County for over 20 years.
Bill enjoyed hunting, going to “The Big Woods” of Pennsylvania to camp, was an excellent mechanic who could fix almost anything, was very knowledgeable on various topics, and was an avid history buff.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Janet of 37 years, include two sons, William Weir of Pittsburgh and Daniel Weir and his fiancée Jennifer Walls of Meadville; a brother, Merle L. Weir of Meadville; two sisters, Doris Renfro of Columbiana, OH and Peggy Weir of Baltimore, MD; two nephews, Marshall Weir of North East and Randy Renfro of Oregon; and an Aunt, Joan Montgomery of Meadville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Norman R. Weir and a sister-in-law, Rynanne Weir.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Brumagin of the Meadville Medical Center Pastoral Care Department, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
