William L. Lender, 82, of Meadville, was dead on arrival at City Hospital Saturday, April 3, 1976, after a four-day illness.
A son of Henry and Ida Weichman Lender, he was born February 6, 1894, in Youngstown, OH. A registered plumber, he worked for the L. L. Lord Co. of Meadville, for 19 years. He retired in 1954. A well-known portrait and landscape artist, he spent his summers at Chautaupua Institution. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the US Army, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge 234; member and past high priest of Solomon Royal Arch Chapter 191; member and past thrice illustrious master, Timothy Alden Council 60; member and past commander, Northwestern Commandery 25; member of Coudersport Consistory Scottish Rite Bodies; member Council of Anointed Kings.
Survivors include two daughters, Miss Henrietta Lender and Mrs. John (Ernestine) Williams of Meadville; a son, Frederick A. Lender of Succasunna, NJ; three grandchildren and one niece.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
