William M. (Willie) Smith

William M. "Willie" Smith, 75, of Meadville, died Wednesday, March 23, 1988, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Smith was born in East Mead Township, January 11, 1913, a son of George W. and Emma Stork Smith.  He married Mona Foulk, April 22, 1940.  She preceded him in death.  He subsequently married Laura Thompson August 19, 1952.  She preceded him in death.  He next married Bertha Shankel November 21, 1973.  She preceded him in death.

He retired from the former FMC Corp. as a coal mill operator after 33 years of service.  He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Roger C.Smith, Meadville; three stepsons, Donald Thompson of Orange, CA, James Thompson of Erie and Arthur Thompson of Pisgha, NC; two stepdaughters, Helen Kramer of Cypress, CA and Miriam Barkley of Harrisville; one sister, Florence McCleery of Meadville; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Craig Allen Smith; four brothers, Stanley Smith, Albert Smith, Clinton Smith and Woodrow Smith and one sister, Dora Miller.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
