William Max “Sharkey” Shellenberger, 76, of State Hwy. 285, Conneaut Lake died at home Sunday, September 10, 2006.
He was born in Conneaut Lake July 29, 1930 a son of Cyrus Ord and Jenny Rohleder Shellenberger. He married Lois Jean Wolfkiel June 11, 1950 and she survives.
He retried in 1985 from Ferrell Gas after 30 years of service. He also owned and operated Sharkey’s Restaurants in Conneaut Lake and at old exit 35 of interstate 79.
He had attended First Assembly of God Church. He loved fishing and hunting, playing cards, John Wayne movies and ice cream.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 56 years, include: one son, Tex Shellenberger of Conneaut Lake; one daughter, Brenda Shellenberger of Meadville; one grandson, Beau J. Brubaker of Erie; nieces and nephews, Janet Copeland of Painesville, OH, Larry Quigley of Meadville, Gary Quigley of Painesville, OH, Ron and Gloria Shea of Conneaut Lake, Donnie Shellenberger of Akron, OH, Judy Shea of Indiana, Mike and Sue Davis of West Palm Beach, FL, Debbie and George Day of Cocomo, IN, Jackie Brennen of Erie and Denny Shellenberger of West Palm Beach, FL and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathy Jean Shellenberger; one brother, Jess Shellenberger and three sisters, Emma Shea, Audrey Davis and Bernice Adsit.
The memorial service will be Saturday, September 16th at 5 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 719 Washington Street, Meadville with the Rev. Philip Torre, Pastor, officiating. Following the service will be a time of fellowship.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.
