The Rev. William P. Sipe, 85, former superintendent of the Ida M. Cribbs Methodist Home at Conneautville, died Thursday, April 25, 1968, at Spencer Hospital after a long illness. He and his wife entered the Methodist Home for the Aged on Park Ave. last September.
The Rev. Mr. Sipe was superintendent of the Cribbs Home, predecessor of the present Methodist Home, from 1940 to 1946. He had served as pastor of Methodist Churches at Springboro, Cochranton, Erie, Tylersburg, Tionesta and Rockland in PA and Cataraugus and Little Valley in New York. He retired in 1948 but returned to an interim pastorate in 1949 at Sharpsville. In 1958 he became associate pastor of the Little Valley Methodist Church where he served until 1961.
The Rev. Mr. Sipe was born in Butler County, July 30, 1882, a son of William S. and Caroline Pontius Sipe. In September of 1903, he married Anna Pearl King. He was licensed as a minster in 1913 and became a member of the Erie Methodist Conference in 1915.
Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Roy (Hazel) Green of Franklin, Mrs. Albert (Gladys) Andrew and Mrs. John (Elsie) McConnell, both of Little Valley; three sons, Harold of Oil City, Earl of Little Valley and Paul S. of Meadville; three brothers, Clarence of Keystone Heights, FL and Edward and George, both of Fennelton, Butler County; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
