William R. Gordon

William R. (Gordo) Gordon, 84, of Meadville, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Meadville Medical Center.

He was born September 21, 1929 in Franklin a son of Ronald and Josephine Hepner Gordon.  He married Patricia First July 2, 1949 and she survives.

He worked for Ainsworth Pet Nutrition (formerly Dad’s Products) for 40 years retiring in 1993 as Director of Professional Services.  He was a 1947 graduate of Cochranton High School and was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville Country Club, Masonic Lodge #408, Erie Consistory, Crawford County Shrine Club and the Zem Zem Shrine Temple Erie.  He was a former member of the German Short-Haired Pointer Club in Akron, OH and a former National Competition Judge.  He was an avid golfer and card player and enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.  In 1949 he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians as a pitcher.  In his retirement he and his wife, Patricia, enjoyed spending the winters in Homosassa, FL for many years.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Patricia, of 64 years, include: three daughters, Cynthia Dellamedaglia and her husband Keith of Meadville, Cheryl Lawrence and her husband Joseph of Saegertown and Patti Jo Elvin and her husband Craig of Harrisburg, PA; two sons, Scott W. Gordon of Meadville and Gregg W. Gordon and his wife Allyson of Meadville; six grandchildren, Joseph Lawrence Jr. and his wife Kelly, Ellie Amory and her husband Jason, Lacey Sheets and her husband Robert, Carly Gordon, Jenna Gordon and Zachary Elvin; four great grandchildren, Tyler Amory, Maria Amory, Carter Sheets and Lorelei Sheets; a brother, Jake Gordon of Texas and two nieces, Kim and Robin of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-mother, Lucille Gordon; two sisters, Pearl Gordon and Sally Miller; a granddaughter, Angela Dellamedaglia and an aunt, Geraldine Johnston.

Private funeral services will be held at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road with Rev. Dave Brumagin, Associate Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
