William S. Roberts

March 13, 1882 — December 23, 1967

Williams S. Roberts, 85, died at the Methodist Home for the Aged, Saturday, December 23, 1967, following a long illness.

He was born at Titusville on March 13, 1882, son of DeWalton P. and Frances Watson Roberts.  He conducted a general merchandise business and was postmaster of Saybrook until 1910 when he moved to Jamestown, NY, where he was supervisor of materials for Salisbury Wheel and Axle Co.

He remained with the Jamestown firm until it moved to Toledo, OH, in 1929.  He then worked as a custodian for Jamestown public schools until his retirement in 1952.

He married the former Eva A. Robins on December 27, 1915.  They both became residents of the Methodist Home in 1955.  Mrs. Roberts preceded her husband in death.

Mr. Roberts was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Knights of Pythias for more than 50 years, and served as past chancellor.  He was a member of Buffalo Street Methodist Church, Jamestown, NY, for 50 years and was a member of its board of trustees.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Upper Cemetery.
