William W. Baker, 66, of Saegertown, died Wednesday, October 16, 1996 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born May 14, 1929 in Center Point, WV, a son of the late Stanley and Grace Mick Baker. He married Elsie Lee on April 24, 1953. She survives.
Mr. Baker was owner and operator of Baker's Store and Gas Station in Blooming Valley for 32 years retiring in 1994. He was a founding member of Blooming Valley Little League and life member and past president of Blooming Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a Korean Veteran with the US Army having served two tours in Korea and two in Germany. He was a member of Blooming Valley Methodist Church and an avid golfer in recent years.
Survivors in addition to his wife include, two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Marilyn) Marr of Blooming Valley and Mrs. Edward (Darlene) Dangel of Meadville; two sons, James D. Baker of Quakertown and Ronald D. Baker of Blooming Valley; one brother, Denver D. Baker of West Point, MS; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one aunt; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Baker; two brothers, Donald W. and Denzel J. Baker; and one sister, Dorothea Baker.
Services were held at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Jones, pastor of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
