William V. (Bill or Moon) Mullen, 80 of Meadville, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
He was born February 8, 1943, in Meadville, a son of Joseph and Mary Sanford Mullen. He married Judith K. Brandt and subsequently married Debbie S. (Kinley) Timer.
Bill was a 1961 graduate of Meadville High School. He worked for Talon, and subsequently for Weber-Harris Ford for 30 years, initially as a salesman and then as finance manager. From 1999 to 2001, Bill worked for various other car dealers. In retirement, he worked at Valesky’s for 11 years and especially enjoyed his interaction with customers.
Bill was a member of First Christian Church. In his youth, he enjoyed going to Huidekoper Park. He was a former member of the Jaycees and Meadville Elks Lodge 219. He coached little league and enjoyed playing golf in the Hailwood Golf Leagues. Bill was an avid car enthusiast, enjoying his 1964 Chevy Impala and watching drag racing and was a long-time Cleveland Browns and Indians/Guardians fan. Anyone who knew Bill, knew of his love of Elvis and his music. One of the highlights of Bill’s life was his trip to Graceland in Memphis, TN. He remembered it fondly and spoke of it often.
Survivors include three children, Craig Mullen (Eileen) of Meadville; Michele Moir (Andy) of Allison Park; and Cindy Mullen of Conneaut Lake; two stepchildren, Samuel and Gary Timer; three grandchildren, Matthew Mullen, Lauren Kavounas (Alex), and Abigail Sada (Stephen); step-grandchildren; a great-grandson, Jonathan Kavounas; a sister-in-law, Donna Mullen; a brother-in-law, Ken Battin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Robert Mullen; a sister, Janet Battin; and a step-daughter, Alicia Reist.
Calling hours will be Thursday, September 7th from 4-6 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
The funeral service will be Friday, September 8th at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, 503 N. Main St. Ext., Meadville with the Rev. Robert McGuire, Pastor, officiating.
