Willodean Greene

Willodean Greene, 87, of Meadville and formerly of Guys Mills, died suddenly Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born July 9, 1927 in Vanceburg, KY, a daughter of Charles and Nettie Clark Burriss.  She married Eugene Greene July 24, 1954 and he preceded her in death December 17, 2013.

Willodean graduated in 1946 from high school in Hartford, CT and in 1948 from business college in Portsmouth, Ohio.  A homemaker, she previously worked at Ohio Consolidated Telephone Company and had been the secretary at the United Methodist Church of Ridgway, PA.

She was a former member of Stone and Townville United Methodist Churches and the Townville Women’s Club.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, yard work, feeding the birds, and wintering in Myrtle Beach, SC for 25 years.

Willodean loved to make people laugh and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Greene and his wife Vicki of Carmichaels, PA; a daughter, Lisa Greene of Meadville; five grandchildren, Andrew Greene and his wife Jennifer of Canonsburg, Jessica Roszak and her husband Steve of Washington, PA, Kelly Rogers and Robert Recker of Canonsburg, Kyle Rogers and Katherine Pickard of Saegertown, and Jesse Stewart of Meadville; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Greene, Addison Greene, and Edyn Recker; two sisters, Ada Warfel of Florida and Ruth England of Waynesville, OH; a sister-in-law, Carol Cole of Columbus, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews including Patti Ann Pollitt of Columbus, OH.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse and Lawrence Burriss and four sisters, Lida Burriss, Irene Burriss, Addie Burriss, and Helen Voirs.

Services will be held privately at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
