Wiltha H. Thiess Chase

Wiltha H. Thiess Chase, of Greenville and formerly of Meadville died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Marquette Hospice House.  She was proud to have lived to 100 years old.

She was born in 1914 in Meadville a daughter of William C. “Rabbit” and Irene Hank Hogue.  She married Paul J. Thiess July 3, 1936 and he died January 7, 1954, she subsequently married Donald W. (Bus) Chase April 14, 1984 and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1989.

She was a 1932 graduate of Meadville High School and worked as a secretary in the engineering department at Talon Inc. until her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn Beatty and her husband James of Greenville, with whom she made her home; her son, Dr. Eric P. Thiess and his wife Missy of Simpsonville, SC; two step-sons, Donald Chase and his wife Donna of Tennessee and Richard Chase and his wife Allison of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Carrie Feldmiller and her husband Richard, Laura Bullock and her husband Neil, Joshua Beatty, Jason Thiess and his wife Reagan and David Thiess; a step granddaughter, Michele Bucklin and her husband Doug; six great grandchildren and three step great great grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Thiess; a granddaughter, Deborah Thiess; a sister, Irene McCaffrey and a niece, Sara Jane Seidel.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Marshall Lillie, Hospice of Crawford County Chaplain, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
