Winsome M. Hunter

Winsome M. Hunter, 99, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

She was born September 12, 1919 in Fairfield Township, Crawford County, a daughter of Floyd and Marjorie Chapin Peterson.  She married Paul G. Hunter June 17, 1939 and he preceded her in death August 11, 2009.

Winsome was a 1936 graduate of Cochranton High School and a graduate of Meadville Commercial College.  A homemaker, she had also worked at the Keystone View Company.

Winsome enjoyed bowling and was a part of the Meadville Women’s Bowling League for several years.  An excellent baker, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was a member of the 500 card club for over 50 years with friends and neighbors.

Survivors include three children, Paula Hunter-Uglow (Timothy), Leonard G. Hunter (Toni) and Timothy W. Hunter (Michele), all of Meadville; six grandchildren, Kelly deSimone, Robin Wisdom, Rachel Hunter, Nathan Hunter, Amanda Hunter and Michael Uglow; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Devon and Samuel deSimone, Ireland and Chloe Wisdom and Tobias and Lennox Uglow; a sister, Norma Hoover (Daniel) of Sun Lakes, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Meredith, Kermit and Leonard Peterson and a sister, Mary Dunn.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 10th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where a memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Philip Torre officiating.

Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
